FANTA III – Overview of the Nutrition Situation in 11 Countries in Asia, 2015.

Reducing malnutrition globally depends on reducing malnutrition in Asia, which has the highest prevalence and greatest numbers of children under 5 years of age who are stunted, wasted, and underweight. USAID’s renewed focus and commitment to nutrition is an opportunity to critically examine the nutrition situation in Asia to identify nutrition priorities to reduce malnutrition in the region, which would ultimately impact and reduce the global prevalence of malnutrition. FANTA conducted a critical review of the nutrition situation in 11 countries in Asia, which is presented by region (South-Central Asia and Southeast Asia) and by country. The two nutrition overview reports and 11 country profiles provide the following:

  • In-depth analysis of the key drivers of malnutrition
  • Current statistical nutrition data and trends for each country
  • A summary of government and donor programs in each country
  • Nutrition priorities for each region and country
  • Recommendations for areas to invest in to improve nutrition
