Susan, in many ways I regret that I didn't facilitate work, on your part, with the candle filters. As it is, my collaborators in Kenya, at the Eastleigh Community Centre, have now produced and distributed five thousand of the candle systems. When you get a chance, please check out the Dan Campbell message of October 1st, to the HHWT Discussion, regarding my second type of system, the packed particle bed (PPB). I've made the point that these can be made using village pottery technology, and this will be along with pottery rocket stoves and pottery toilets.
