On the cookstove adoption, I thought the best practice to increase adaptation is to train the stove makers, allow them to sell the new stove at a higher price and higher margin, and make the new stoves a status symbol in the community. Consumers are educated on the money they would save and how much less work they will need to gather and prepare the fuel.
If they have to spend more effort to prepare the fuel, then the adaptation rate would be low.
Another item that may be important is that the height of the pot resting on the new stove should be the same as with the old stove during introduction.
Finally, the visibility of the flame in the new stove should be similar to the old.
